Smart Axiata announced yesterday that it has begun disbursing funds from its $1 million COVID-19 Relief Fund to the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge, Open Institute, Friends International and Southeastern Globe Communications, according to a company statement.
The first round of initiatives that were approved by the multi-stakeholder Evaluation Committee will go to Institut Pasteur du Cambodge providing up to two months’ supply of test kits and Personal Protective Equipment for COVID-19 screening and diagnosis by molecular testing for thousands of its patients.
Smart’s dedicated fund, which was opened to receive applications last month, is over and above Smart’s annual corporate social responsibility commitment of more than 1 percent of its revenue and aims to provide monetary assistance for high impact solutions to address Cambodia’s most urgent needs during and after the crisis.
