Bangkok Airway has announced it will resume flights between the Thai capital and Phnom Penh city of Cambodia from December 1. In a news release, the airline said it would restart flights, subject to government approval.
The Bangkok to Phnom Penh flight, PG 931, will leave at 08:50 and arrive in the Cambodian capital at 10:05. The Phnom Penh to Bangkok flight, PG 932, will leave at 10:55 and arrive in the Thai capital at 12:10. Flights will depart every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Bangkok airways will use an Airbus A320 to service the route.
In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 all flights will strictly comply with safety and social distancing guidelines set by the Thai Ministry of Public Health and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. Food and beverage services will be suspended and passengers cannot bring food and drink on board. All crew members will wear masks and gloves when on duty. Passengers are required to wear a mask at all times during the flight.
Bangkok Airways suspended all flights on March 22 last year, saying the spread of the Coronavirus worldwide had cut demand.
On October 21 the Thai government announced that fully-vaccinated arrivals from 46 countries, including Cambodia, could visit Thailand quarantine-free from November 1. Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen responded by telling the Tourism Ministry to allow quarantine-free flights from Thailand but a formal announcement has not yet been made by the government. Mr Hun Sen also said the Kingdom would resume flights from Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, in a bid to reopen the country to tourists and business people.
Cambodia has cut the quarantine period for fully-vaccinated arrivals to seven days from 14. People using diplomatic visas, along with investors, Cambodian and foreign technical officials, officials of cooperation projects and government officials who return from missions abroad (including their family members) only have to quarantine for three days.
