The Ministry of Tourism says at least 557 tourism resorts nationwide are opened for both national and foreign tourists in the five-day holiday, which began Monday, August 17, with preventive measures against COVID-19 spread.
The tourism resorts are natural tourism resorts, cultural and historical resorts, human-made resorts, and ecotourism communities, Top Sopheak, the ministry’s Spokesman said..
“Due to increasing tourists, more and more tourism resorts have resumed operation to serve tourists,” he said.
Ministry of Tourism has guided those tourism resorts to prepare necessary tools including thermometres, alcohol- and gel-based sanitizers, facemasks and hand soap to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to ensure safety in each tourism resort, stated Mr Sopheak.
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit hard Cambodia’s tourism sector, causing some 3,000 hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, and tour agencies to shut down operations.
