Banana exports from Cambodia have seen a decrease in the first seven months of this year and the Ministry of Agriculture has reported a decrease of 7.28 percent.
In the first seven months of 2022, Cambodia exported more than 250,000 tonnes of fresh bananas to international markets, reported the Ministry. More than 220,000 tonnes of the fruit were exported to China and 24,000 tonnes were exported to Vietnam.
Banana exports are not the only fruits seeing a decline in exports, the Ministry reported that fresh mango exports so far this year has clocked in at 110,000 tonnes, which is a decrease of 26.84 percent. Exports to Vietnam was at more than 62,000 tonnes, to Thailand at 27,000 tonnes, to China at 27,000 tonnes, 160 tonnes to Korea and more than two tonnes to Hong Kong.
The Kingdom also exported 13,000 tonnes of mango products, such as jams, which is a decrease of 2.22 percent. 85 percent of the products were exported to China and the remaining 15 percent were exported to Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Korea and the United States.
From January to May 2022, Cambodia exported more than $519 million worth of goods to China, down 6.9 percent, according to data released by the General Department of Customs and Excise.
