Prime Minister Hun Sen has stated that with the subsequent easing of administrative and health measures, Cambodia encourages openness and strengthening of economic integration by promoting investment, trade, by fully implementing free trade agreements.
The Prime Minister made the statement in a video address to the 78th Annual Meeting of UN ESCAP on “Joint Agenda for Promoting Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific”, on May 23.
The Premier said that sustainable development is an important global agenda that requires the participation of all sectors, both nationally, regionally and globally. He said that the Covid-19 crisis as well as other challenges that have been occurring, have not only hampered the process of achieving sustainable development, but also reflected the need to increase and strengthen international cooperation.
He stressed that the Covid-19 situation has improved but is not yet completely done. The main priority of the common agenda in the Asia-Pacific region as well as the world as a whole is still to focus on overcoming Covid-19. In this regard, Cambodia highly values the culture of mutual assistance, especially the sharing of the Covid-19 vaccine, aimed at building full community immunity throughout the world.
Prime Minister Hun Sen emphasized that Cambodia believes that achieving sustainable development requires joint decisions under multilateral mechanisms, respecting international law and the sovereignty of each country.
