Minister of Agriculture Veng Sakhon met with Japanese representatives to discuss plans to invest in Cambodia’s cashew crops and setting up a processing plant for export to Japan and other international markets.
Minister Sakhon met with the CEO of YEBISS-HOLDINGS, Akira Taniguchi, and other representatives met on January 25 to discuss the plan for investment and construction of a new processing plant.
Akira said that the company is planning to invest in a 1,000-hectare cashew field in Oddar Meanchey. The company aims to establish a cashew processing factory for export to Japan and other international markets and process the cashews to be used in various production as environmental products.
The Minister welcomed and supported the object of the company’s investment in cashew production, processing and export.
Minister Sakhon briefed the representatives on the potential of cashew crops, harvested yields and recent export volumes. The Minister also stressed that this investment project will bring a lot of benefits to farmers, communities and cashew plantations.
The Minister suggested that the company set up a processing plant that will be used for a test run before constructing a permanent processing plant.
