A group of Japanese investors led by the President of the Japan-Cambodia Association and the President of Japanese Investment Delegation Fumiaki Takahashi on Thursday met with the Preah Sihanouk Governor Kouch Chamroeun to discuss investment opportunities.
During the visit Takahashi led a delegation of 10 Japanese investors to Siem Reap and Preah Sihanouk provinces.
Takahashi said that Sihanoukville has seen rapid development with good infrastructure and environment suitable for tourism and investment.
He said that Japanese investors wished to invest or establish a cosmetics factory in Sihanoukville because the Japanese side has technology, while the Cambodian side has raw materials (golden silks) to be processed into cosmetics and soap, which are popular products.
Governor Chamroeun said that the Japanese government has supported the construction and expansion of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port so that large ships can dock by 2025.
“Through this visit, the Royal Government of Cambodia hopes that the Japanese delegation will help to promote the potential of Sihanoukville to the Japanese people and investors,” Chamroeun said.
